Meet the Team: How Personality and Passion Can Shine Through in B2B Tech PR

At Neo PR, we pride ourselves on delivering the gold standard in B2B tech PR. To do this, we’ve focused on building a dynamic team of industry enthusiasts who want to make a real difference within their local communities. So, without further ado, we are thrilled to introduce our latest recruit, Junior PR Account Manager Helena Carnell. Read on to find out all about Helena and her journey to Neo PR.

A bit about me outside of B2B Tech PR

Whilst it took me all the way up until my final year of university to determine what direction my career path would take, my personality and passions have always lent themselves to a career in public relations.

From writing my own fantasy stories to dabbling with a paintbrush or camera, I have always been a creative individual. These passions have evolved over the years, to me now spending my downtime with a good book or dabbling away at a paint-by-numbers. Primarily, most of my paintings are of cities I have visited on holiday with my partner and, once finished, these decorate my home.

Finally, as a creature of habit, I almost always start the day with Wordle, Strands, and Connections, and then end the day with a couple of rounds of Duolingo!

These traits – creativity, curiosity, and being strategically-minded – have been great qualities to have as a PR professional. With a passion for content writing and communication, PR was a clear choice to allow my personality to shine through.

Earning my stripes in media relations and PR strategy

My first introduction to the world of public relations was at the University of Portsmouth, where I achieved my first-class honours journalism degree. In my second year, I completed a PR module, which sparked my interest in the profession. Two work experience placements later, and I landed my first job in tech B2B PR straight out of university.

Looking over the last three years, I am incredibly proud of the journey I have had so far, and am excited to see what comes next. From building lasting relationships with the media to coming up with engaging ways to portray an article through a pitch, my experiences have helped develop my creativity and confidence. Working alongside clients to help establish PR strategies and then seeing them through from start to finish is perhaps one of my favourite aspects of the role!

The world of Neo PR: constant connectivity without the constant commute

In search of my next challenge, I have now joined Neo PR as a Junior Account Manager.

One of the many reasons Neo PR initially caught my eye ahead of accepting the role was the flexibility it offered, alongside being an almost fully remote role (apart from the twice-a-month trip to the Buckinghamshire-based office). Having experience in remote working, I knew that this way of working would suit me well, but also that it could make it difficult to build lasting connections. However, after my initial interview with Ash, closely followed by meeting the team, it became clear to me that with Team Neo, this wouldn’t be a problem.

Despite the team working from all corners of the South East, the team feels incredibly connected. It became very clear, very quickly, that this is the perfect place for me to continue my learning and growth – including dipping my toes into content marketing for the first time. With the team only a message away, and the team work days at the office in Buckinghamshire every other Tuesday, team Neo boasts constant connectivity and great culture, without the constant commute.

With an incredibly supportive team by my side and an array of interesting clients to work with, I am excited to see how my creativity, curiosity, and confidence continue to flourish.

Meet more of the talented people on Team Neo, here.
